School's Out

December 3rd market the last day of classes for St. John's students. It's already Christmas break and hardly anyone can believe it. The first semister went by so fast. I could remember my first day of college just like it was yesterday. Usually in highschool, students only get off for a week or two during Christmas break. In college, we've got about one month off. Being that there's not much schoolwork to do, I'll probably work a little more and spend some more time with my family. During school, I'm usually so busy, but now with some more free time on my hands, I'll finally be able to relax for the holidays and spend some more time with my family and friends. The worst part about the Christmas break will most likey be going back to school because we'll all be so used to lounging around at home. Howerver, the best part of going to back to school will be seeing all my friends once again.

Free T.V on the Internet

A few days ago i was searching through the internet for some clips of one of my favorite tv shows, "Family Guy". After watching a few short clips of a handful of episodes, I thought to myself, "i really wish I could watch more than only a couple seconds of a clip. What i really wanted, was to watch an entire episode. So after searching around a few sites, I came across a website that actually had the entire 7 seasons of the show available for watching. Two days later, I had watched the 6th and 7th seasons and just couldn't stop laughing. The site is great, not only can you watch Family Guy, but other hit shows as well. Prison Break, House, and Lost. Its great alternative for actually going to the store and buying the dvd collections. All you have to do is type in the site and you're free to watch anything you please.

Transporter 3

Tommorow, November 26th, "Transporter 3" comes out in theaters. Now I've seen both Transporters 1 and 2 and really like the series. Of course there are a bunch of scenes that are fake and and times might seem a little corny but thats what you get with most action movies these days. I've seen a couple of previews on television last night and number three looks really good. There are plenty of explosions, stunts, and of course, car chases. The car driven by Jason Statham, or otherwise known as "Frank Martin" is a beatiful Audi S8 which is fully armored and equiped with a countless number of special features. What makes this film pretty exciting is the fact that right before the mission takes place, a small device is attached to Frank that will explode if he travels more than 75 feet from the vehicle, meaning that no matter what, Frank must stay with his car at all times. All in all the movie looks very promising and I'm definately going to see it shortly after its release.

24 "Redemption"

As any fany of the Fox show "24' already knows, last night at 8pm est, was the worldwide premier of 24"Redemption". In this two hour event, Jack Bauer (the star of the show) is found in a foreign country torn by war and poverty. He's first seen unloading a supply truck to small African children at a local school. It appears that Jack is trying to leave his past behind and has headed to meet up with his friend Carl. At the same time, Jack also finds himself confronted by Frank Tramell, an ellected goverment official whom is sent to Africa to summon Jack Bauer to Court. Jack does not comply with Frank but rather chooses to neglect his responsibility to attend court. When two of the boys go missing, Jack's longtime friend, Carl Benton sets out to look for the boys. He comes to find that one is dead while the other is alive but has been wounded badly. He quickly carries the boy to his jeep and heads back to the school. At the same time, rebel forces have also located the school and are moving in on their location. While Carl makes his way back to the school, Jack is given the task of defending the building from invading forces and keeping the children safe. A short while after Jack disposes of numerous enemies, he is captured and held captive by the militia. Carl eventually shows up and rescues Jack and the children. From this point on, both Jack and Carl lead the children to the United States Embasy where they will be safe from harm. Along the trip, Carl Benton is caught on a landmine and chooses to sacrafice his own life in order to protect Jack and the children. When Jack reaches the embasy, he again is confronted by Frank Tramell whom is in charge of the evactuation process. Jack is suddenly faced with the chose of dodging his court order and putting the children in harm's way, or actually turning himself in and protecting the children. Jack decides to turn himself in to the goverment and the children and both he and the children are able to escape the country just as the gates of the embasy are knocked down by civialians. While all this is going on across the world, the United States is preparing itself for a new female presidet whom already has her hands full with the crisis involving rebels in Africa. After watch the 2 hour premier, I was really excited for the new seventh season which is going to air this January 11th. I'm sure after watching this short preview, most fans cannot wait for season 7 and all it has in store.

Awd Cars

While on my way home last night I came to realize something interesting. I've realized that the number of All Wheel Drive Cars on the road has increased rapidly since about a year ago. A good amount of all the cars I saw on the street were all wheel drive. These cars usually wear the badges of "4matic, X,Quattro" etc. It seems as if more and more people are becoming attracted to these automobiles. I don't find this suprising at all. Automobiles equiped with all wheel drive are better suited to demanding enviornmental conditions such as rain, snow, and ice. These cars offer more stable handling in harsh conditions while also offer an increased level of driver confidence. These vehicles are especially common for those individuals who have families and children. Who wouldn't want to keep their children safe when the roads become wet or slippery.

TopGear On YouTube

A few nights ago, I spent the evening browsing videos on youtube. Upon looking through countless numbers of clips, I came upon something that really caught my eye. I had come across a good number of clips from the BBC show "TopGear". For anyone who doesn't know about this program, it's an entertaining show about cars that can be both entertaining and educational as well. Just from watching a few minutes of any given episode, you'll learn a few facts about the latest automobiles and vehicles. The three presenters of the show, Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond, and James May are very entertaining. Whether they're testing out a new car or bulding some kind of contraption only to destroy it, they've always got something in store for the audience. Now what i do not like about the show is the simple fact that it is not regularly broadcast in the United States. It is on the BBC American channel once in a while, but it's usually only reruns. I've found that Youtube has become an excellent site for those individuals who love to watch the show. Users who are privlaged to watch the show live are able to record it and post it on the site, for other fans around the world to watch.

Election Day 2008

Today, Novemeber 4th 2008 is a day that will go down in history. It is election day 2008. The two candidates running for president as you may already know are Senators Barack Obama and John Mccain. Millions of Americans have headed out to the polls to cast their votes on whom may be the next president of the United States. Infact, it was easy to se eearly this morning while i was out, all of the events taking place on this day. People had rushed out to the voting booths to cast their votes while the candidates and their parties made any final preparations for tonight. While i personally feel that it will be very close, I'm still not eligible to vote because I'm still only 17 years old. Looking at what both of these candidates have to offer, I think that ither one will bring change to the nation in a number of positive ways.

Technology and How it is used in the University

Technology is everywhere around us. It is used in every part of our lives, whether it be personal or in a community setting. One place that technology is really being used greatly is the university. Technology is used in the university to help bring people together, both students and faculty alike. It is used to organize files such as student's records, attendence, and assignments. It is also used for research. Any kind of information that must be researched can be easily found on the internet which is used by millions of people each day. Through the internet, answers to questions could be found much more quickly than in books or in a library. I feel that technology does indeed work if used properly by the user. All the information and tools are already at your disposal, it's just a matter of using them correctly.

2008 Dodge Viper SRT-10

One of my favorite cars today is the all new 2008 Dodge Viper Srt-10. The viper is availble in a coupe or convertible body styles. The Dodge Viper is vehicle like no other. Unlike many new cars today, the people at dodge aren't focusing on adding new technologies or creature comforts to the viper because thats not what the car is all about. Instead of creating a modern technically advanced car, dodge focused more on creating a brutally powerful raw machine. Theres no traction control at all meaning the driver is in full controll of the 600 horsepower and 560ft/ pounds of torque from the 8.4 liter v10 under the hood. With this kind of power, the Viper srt-10 is able to launch to 60mph in less than 4 seonds and keep pulling all the way to 200mph. Rather than using advanced technology to compete with rivals, the viper focuses on raw untamed power to bury the competition. It's a special kind of car that requires a special kind of driver, one who lives for the thrill of performance.

New York Auto Show

The New York Auto Show has been a tradition for my family and I for quite a while. Each year, me, my dad, my uncle, and my cousin attened the show which is held at the Jacob Javits center. The building itself itself is constucted of only metal rods and glass. It's our love for cars that brings us all together to the show. The show consists of 3 floors, one floor is passenger cars, the second is trucks and vans, and the third is accesories and parts. I find the entire event to be really interesting and exciting. I love sitting in and checking out all of the new cars that companies are showing off to the public. The exibitors that really get my attention are Dodge, Bmw, and Porsche. I really like all three of these car companies and feel that they have quite an amazing line up of automobiles such as the Dodge Viper, and Porsche 911 turbo, two cars that can hold their own against some of the best competitors in the world. There are so many cars there that everyone is sure to find something that captures their attention. From Ferraris to Mini Coopers, the New York Auto Show has everything.

The Strip

One of the many places i've always wanted to travel to is Las Vegas. Ever since seeing Vegas on tv and in movies, it's just always seemed appealing to me. Just looking at the strip lit up at night is amazing. There's flashing lights and people everwhere. The shows and resturants look like they would be very nice to attend even though everyone knows the casinos are the main attraction. After looking at some of the hotels and the extravigant lobbys and suites they offer, I'd love to just hop on a plane and spend a few night there. I'd love to go to Vegas when i turn 21 so i can take full advantage of everthing the town has to offer.

Cell Phones

I could remember when i was young, cell phones were not really popular at all. In fact it was pretty rare to see someone using one. Eventually as time went by more and more people bought cellphones and started using them. Today everyone and anyone has a cell phone. I feel that the cellphone is an essential item in anyone's life. A few months ago, i rember i misplaced my phone and didn't have a mobile phone for about a month. It was very difficult to make plans with people and stay in touch being that people usually just call each other to see what they're doing.

Upstate, New York

Today, I took a ride to my uncle's house in upstate New York. Me and my cousin have been going ever since we were younger. When we're up there, we spend most of the day riding dirtbikes and quads. When we're not riding we usually hangout by the house and look for something to do. What i really like about the country is that you're free to do almost whatever you want without anyone saying anything to you. There is so much land that you've got the space to do whatever you please. The freedom is unlimited.

People Outside the Tri-State

Last weekend I took a trip with my family to Maine. We went to attend a family member's wedding. While there, I've come to notice that the people there are much different from people who live in New York. In general, the people are more laid back then people from our state. Everything has a much slower relaxed pace. This was good in a way because it promotes a more stress free lifestyle but it is also bad in a way because it feels like your always waiting for someone to do something or something to happen. Even though the people from New York could be nasty and demanding at times, theres still no other place where i feel right at home.

Across The Universe

Today, after dinner, i decided to sit down and watch a movie. My choice for the night was "Across The Universe." This movie in my own opinion was amazing. The film itself is based on the music of "The Beatles". The setting of the moive was during the 1960s-early 70s during the time of the Vietnam War. What I thought was really cool was the fact that the characters in the movie were named after characters in songs that the Beatles played. Ex (Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds", "Hey Jude", and "Dear Prudence". Throught the movie, the cast sang countless beatles songs that every Beatles fan is sure to know.

Political Power of Social Networking Sites

With the growing popularity of websites such as myspace and facebook, many polititians and members of congress are turning to these webpages as a way of letting the public know about them. With a combined total of over 100million users, both of these sites serve as perfect ways for elected officials to make themselves known. It will be no suprise if the next president of the United States even creates his or her own page on one of these sites. With their own page, they will have the power to post videos, create blogs and post messages on important topics that millions of people will have access to. The world is changing and the internet is now starting to take over as one of the main sources of communication among people. With litteraly hundreds of millions of users worldwide, it would be a mistake to ignore the online community. If used properly, the internet could serve as a powerful tool that could help shape the world.

Are Hybrid Cars Really Worth the Extra Cost?

As everyone already knows, the prices of gas are soaring throught the roof. It's not uncommon to go to the pump, fill up and spend 70dollars or more on a tank of gas. In order to save money, many Americans are turning to hybrid cars. Such manafacturers as toyota, honda and even General Motors are offering hybrid automobiles to the public. While these vehicles do consume less fuel then their non hybrid counterparts, they also cost more. For example a brand new hybrid Cadillac Escalade Hybrd will run the consumer $71,685, which is about $3,600 more than a similarly equiped non hybrid model. While the consumer pays almost four grand more for the hybrid version, they would have to keep the car for a significant amount of years to make up for that cost in fuel. Basically you would have to keep the car for a much longer time then planned in order to benefit from the hybrid model being that your spending an extra $3,600 dollars on the car rather than gas.

The Benefits of Facebook

Facebook is one of the most popoular social sites on the web. Over 40million people are active on the site everyday. In order to use facebook, the site requires users to create an account and upload a picture that is used on their own personal page. On that page you can list schools you attended, places you worked and also groups that you're interested in. You can find friends on facebook and add them to your contacts. One friends are added, you have the option to create or attend events that you or your friends have scheduled. What makes this service great is the fact that you can locate old friends and associates that you havent been able to keep in contact with. Its a great tool that helps people to communicate and connect with one another.

World's Toughest Sport

It's not football, not rugby, certainly not gymnastics. The world's toughest sport is freestlye motocross. It may come as a suprise to most people, they might also not agree , but you would have to see it to believe it. Personally i think an individual performing a double backflip on a 200 pound 2 stroke dirtbike is something you would have to see to believe. Every aspect of the sport is simply amazing. Being that guys like Nate Adams, Ronnie Faisst, and Travis Pastrana are professionals there is a good chance they'll land whatever trick theyre trying to put down. However, all it takes is half a second to mess up on a trick which could result in a few cuts and bruises or a trip to the emergency room.

In The Dead Of The Morning

During the twilight hours of the morning, there is not a sound heard. There is no voice, no opinions, no right and no wrong. Not a single soul is awake to place judgement on your actions. The only person whom will answer yes or no is yourself. This is the opportune time to reflect on one's self, thinking not only back to the actions and events that had happened during the previous day, but what will also take place in the days to come. It is the time where an individual can express his or her ideas without any distraction from others. A time where a person can be in total harmony with themselves.
